190 out of 226 Covid cases through contact; situation grave in state capital
Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that the state capital is facing a grave situation as the number of contact cases increase day by day. Out of 226 Covid positive cases on Wednesday, 190 contracted the virus through contact, he said at the media briefing after Covid review meeting.
Also 15 of the cases have unknown sources. 18 health workers also tested positive for Covid on Wednesday.
65.16 percentage of the total positive cases in the state fall under locally acquired virus infection while this is 94.04 percent in Thiruvananthapuram, CM added.
As the lockdown continues in the district, the traders in critical containment zones will be allowed to take stock from wholesalers on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The wholesalers can enter the critical containment zones in their vehicles from 7 am to 1 pm with police permission.
CM also said that there has been considerable increase in Covid cases in border areas including Parassala and requested people to exercise caution.
