19 new hotspots in Kerala, 572 in total
Thiruvananthapuram: As the single day spike of COVID-19 crossed 2,000 on Wednesday, Kerala identified 19 more hotspots. Meanwhile, 12 areas were excluded from the list. With this, the total number of hotspots rose to 572.
In Palakkad district, Mannur (containment zone ward 5), Shoranur (6) and Kizhakanchery (6) were added to the list of hotspots. Sooranad north (9), Kulakkada (2,3) and Velinelloor (2,3) in Kollam and Kattakambal (sub ward 11) and Kodungallur (sub ward 1,2) in Thrissur district were also identified as hotspots. Kizhuvilam (1) and Ottasekharamangalam (10,12) in Thiruvananthapuram and Delampady (3) and Muliyar (8) in Kasaragod also turned hotspots on Wednesday.
Thiruvalla municipality (4) and Kulanada (12) in Pathanamthitta district and Kandakkadavu (sub ward 3) and Pampakuda (13) in Ernakulam district were also declared as hotspots.
Kandalloor (8,9,11) in Alappuzha, Meenadom (6) in Kottayam and Vazhikkadavu (6,11,12,13,14,15,21,22) in Malappuram were also identified as hotspots.
Areas which are excluded from hotspots include Mooriyad (ward 9), Thiruvilwamala (4) and Pananchery (sub ward 6, ward 7,8) in Thrissur district. Ambalavayal (2,3), Thariyode (8,9) and Kottathara (10) in Wayanad, Nenmara (19) and Agali (9) in Palakkad and Belur (1,10,11) and East Eleri (14,15) in Kasaragod were excluded from the list. Vechoor (6) in Kottayam and Malayattoor Nileswaram (1) in Ernakulam were also removed as hotspots.
