19 new COVID-19 hotspots in Kerala; 10 excluded from list
Thiruvananthapuram: As concerns over the COVID-19 outbreak continues in Kerala, 19 more areas were identified as hotspots. At the same time, 10 regions have been excluded from the list. With this, there are 127 hotspots in the state at present.
The hotspots identified on Tuesday include 12 areas in Kannur district, 4 in Alappuzha and one each in Wayanad, Ernakulam and Palakkad. In Kannur, the hotspots are Pinarayi (containment zone ward 5), Kottiyoor (ward 11), Karivellur-Peralam (4, 9), Peringome Vayakkara (7), Cherukunnu (1), Kadachira (3), Ulikkal (19), Chengalayi (14), Kathiroor (18), Chembilode (13, 15), Kolayad (5, 6) and Padyam (9).
New hotspots in Alappuzha district are Bharanikkavu (16), Kayamkulam municipality (4, 9), Chengannur municipality (14, 15) and Palamel (14). Thirunelli (4, 5, 9, 10, 12) in Wayanad, Kanjoor (12) in Ernakulam and Thirumittacode (8) in Palakkad are the other new hotspots.
Meanwhile, several areas in Kannur and Kasaragod districts have been excluded from the list of containment zones.
In Kannur, Kangol Alapadamba (containment zone sub ward 6), Mangattidam (sub ward 4), Muzhakkunnu (all wards), Panoor (sub ward 31), Peravoor (ward 11), Thilankeri (all wards) and Udayagiri (sub ward 2) were excluded from the list. Bedadukka (ward 8), Badiyadka (ward 18) and Kinanoor-Karindalam (ward 6) in Kasaragod district were also removed from the list.
