180 expats from Oman to land in Kozhikode on Saturday
Muscat: The first chartered flight from Oman will fly to Kozhikode international airport at Karipur on Saturday.
The flight operated by ICF Oman National Committee will take off from Muscat, informed ICF general secretary Muhammad Raziq.
A total of 180 passengers will land in Kerala in this special repatriation flight. 11 pregnant women, 42 patients who need emergency medical care, 50 people on visit visa and 48 who lost jobs are the passengers in this flight.
Among the passengers, 20 percent are flown to Kerala on free ticket. 10 to 50 percent reduction in ticket rate was given to half the passengers, informed ICF national committee. Other passengers will travel at a normal rate.
ICF is operating the first service for Indians in Oman as initiated by various associations of expats. Those who were registered in the Indian Embassy were selected for the repatriation through the chartered flight.
Interventions of Kanthapuram AP Abubacker Musliyar and Kerala Muslim Jamath contributed to speed up the repatriation process. They held talks with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and central government representatives for the same.
ICF committee members reported that the guidelines of Oman authority, the government of India and Kerala government was strictly followed in the flight operation. In the coming days, ICF plans to operate more chartered flights to Kannur and Kochi sectors. Chartered flights will be operated under ICF from various GCC countries.
