17-year-old girl loses leg after falling onto track in Neyyattinkara

Neyyatinkara: A 17-year-old girl lost her legs after accidentally falling on to the tracks while boarding a train at Neyyattinkara railway station on Tuesday. The train was moving at the time of the accident. The authorities severed her left leg and right foot to rescue her.

Radhika, hailing from Thrissur, met with the accident while boarding the train to get back home after attending her cousin's birthday party. The accident happened around 11.26 pm while she was boarding the Chennai-Guruvayur express.

She slipped and fell on the tracks. Despite efforts, the family was unable to save her. The train was moving in the forward direction and her legs were crushed beneath the wheels. The fire and rescue team was forced to sever her leg since it was trapped between the wheels.

She was soon rushed to Neyyattinkara General Hospital and later to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College for further treatment.
