17 new hotspots in Kerala, 492 in total
Thiruvananthapuram: As the single-day spike of COVID-19 cases continue to cross 1000 in the state, 17 more places were identified as hotspots on Saturday. At the same time, 23 areas were excluded from the list. With this, the total number of hotspots in the state recahed 492.
In Kasaragod district, 7 regions were identified as hotspots. Pullur Periya (Containment zone:1,7,8,9,11,13,14,17), Puthige(6,10), Trikaripur (1,3,4,5,7,11,13,14,15,16), Udma (2,6,11,16,18), Valiyaparamba (6,7,10), Vorkkadi (1,2,3,5,7,8,9,10) and West Eleri (14) are the new hotspots in Kasaragod.
In Kottayam district, Erumeli (1), Athirampuzha (20,11), Mundakayam (12) and Ayarkunnam (15) were identified as hotspots.
Atholi (12) and Unnikulam (12) in Kozhikode, Kallooppara (13), Pramadam (19) in Pathanamthitta, Kattoor (6) in Thrissur and Neendakara in Kollam (2,3,12) were also declared as hotspots of COVID-19.
Meanwhile, 16 places in Thrissur district - Avinissery (ward 13), Puthur (3), Nenmanikkara (6,7), Aloor (1,17),Erumapetty (9), Thrikkoor (7,8), Poomangalam (8), Choondal (6,7,8), Chelakkara (17), Kodungallur municipality (31), Desamangalam (11,13,14,15), Thiruvilwamala (10), Padiyur (1,13,14), Vallachira (14), Madakkathara (6,7,8,14) and Perinjanam (12) were removed from the list of hotspots.
All wards in Panayam and West Kallada in Kollam district and Rajakkad (all wards) and Kanchiyar (11,12) in Idukki district were also excluded from the list. In Pathanamthitta, Ranni Pazhavangadi (12,13,14), Thannithode (8) and Chittattukara (3) were also removed from the list of hotspots.
