Car taken into custody, accused Santhosh

Thiruvananthapuram: Police nabbed three persons, including a sixteen-year-old boy, in a POCSO case pertaining to the sexual assault of a minor girl in Nedumangadu. The minor boy was arrested on charges of kidnapping and raping a eighth standard student. His mother’s friend Pullambara Santhosh (36), who is a Chullimanoor native, was also booked for aiding the crime. Police have also arrested a 50-year-old relative of the girl who had sexually abused the girl when she was studying in fourth standard.

The girl was kidnapped en route to school on Thursday morning. When she was heading to school, the boy, who had acquaintance with the girl, offered to drop her at school by car. Santhosh was also present in the car. Later, they took the girl to Santhosh’s house in Chullimanoor and the boy raped her. By noon, they left the girl on the road.

Meanwhile, the school authority had informed the parents that the girl had not reached the school. Immediately, the parents lodged a complaint at the police station and the police located the girl. The girl revealed the incidents to the police and during a detailed counselling she informed that a 50-year-old relative had also abused her sexually when she was just 8-years-old.

Following the arrest, the minor boy was shifted to a juvenile home while Santhosh and the relative of the girl were remanded after producing them in court.
