The bus drivers writing imposition

Thripunithura: Bus drivers, who drove the bus in an inebriated state, were made to write ‘imposition’ by the police. As many as 16 bus drivers were caught in a special inspection conducted by Tripunithura Hill Palace Inspector V Gopakumar from 5 am to 9 am on Monday.

The police made the drivers write that they “will not drink and drive” 1000 times before granting them bail. Four school bus drivers, two KSRTC bus drivers and 10 private bus drivers were subjected to the punishment.

The passengers in the buses were taken to the Tripunithura bus stand by police drivers. Officials also took the students in the school buses to their schools. A report against the KSRTC drivers will be sent to the corporation authorities.

Gopakumar said that steps will be taken to cancel the licences of the drivers and to cancel the registration of the vehicles that they were driving. Kochi City Deputy Commissioner S Sasidharan said that strict inspections will be conducted in the coming days.
