16 Keralites missing, relatives suspect they may have joined Islamic State
Thiruvananthapuram: 16 Keralite youths including women are reported to be missing from Kasargod and Palakkad districts in the state for the last one month. As no information about the youths have surfaced since the past one month, relatives suspect that the youth might have gone to Syria or Iraq to join the terrorist organization Islamic state.
According to a report in Hindustan Times, the relatives of the youth informed the media organization that the sixteen youths went to Syria and they suspect that the youth joined Islamic state. Among the missing youth, there are four women, two children, a doctor and an engineer.
The report says that the youths left the country on the pretext of going on a pilgrimage and their cell phones are switched off presently.
One of the relatives of the youth received the message "We have reached our final destination." The relatives also said that they think that the youth are in Syria or Iraq now.
The missing youth are natives of Trikaripur and nearby places of Kasargod district. All the youth are in the age-group of 20-30.
