Santhanpara: A 15-year-old girl was subjected to sexual assault by a group of four men here in Idukki. The migrant girl had arrived in Santhanpara with a friend to see tea plantations there. The police have taken two into custody in the matter. The attack took place on Sunday.
The girl was accompanied by her male friend, a Madhya Pradesh native. He bought liquor from the Bevco outlet there and tried to consume it when they got to the plantations. Four men who arrived there attacked the girl and the her friend, following which he fled from there. The girl was assaulted by four men after this.
It is hinted that the accused are all Malayalis. Santhanpara police registered a case on Sunday itself. The girl had come to Kerala only 10 days back. She came along with her parents who work in tea plantations in the area. The girl will undergo a medical inspection on Monday.
