14 new hotspots in Kerala, 11 excluded from list
Thiruvananthapuram: With Kerala recording the highest single-day spike of 1,310 COVID cases on Friday, 14 places were identified as new hotspots. At the same time, 11 areas were excluded from the list. With this, the number of total hotspots in the state touched 498.
In Thiruvananthapuram district, Pazhayakunnummel (Wards 1,2,5) and Kallikkad (all wards) were identified as hotspots. In Thrissur district, Kuzhoor (containment zone: Ward 1,2,3,4,5,13), Vellangallur (18,19) and Pazhayannur (1) were declared as hotspots. Koodaranji (all wards) and Chengottukavu (Ward 16) in Kozhikode district and Narath (13) and Valapattanam (5,8) in Kannur district were also added to the list of hotspots.
In Kottayam district, Pampady (18) and Thalayazham (7,9) were named as hotspots. All wards in Velinalloor in Kollam, Puthunagaram (2) in Palakkad and Omallur (1) in Pathanamthitta were also identified as hotspots on Friday.
Meanwhile, 11 regions were excluded from the list of hotspots. Nellanad (7) in Thiruvananthapuram and Chengaroth (14), Perambra (17,18, 19), Unnikulam (1,14,23) and Moodadi (4,5) in Kozhikode district were removed from the list.
Thrikkunnapuzha (13,16) and Arookutty (all wards) in Alappuzha district, Sreemoolanagaram (5) and Aikkaranadu (all wards) in Ernakulam district were also excluded from the list.
Other regions which were removed from hotspot list are Konni (12,14) in Pathanamthitta and Thalayolaparambu (4) in Kottayam.
