Kozhikode: In the last six months,14 cylinders and machines were seized from illegal LPG filling centres in Kozhikode district. The illegal bussiness came to light during raids conducted by Taluk Supply Officers and Rationing officers.
Strict action has been taken against those who run illegal LPG filling centres and supply cylinders. The prosecution procedures will be followed in accordance to the Essential Commodities Act, LPG (Regulation of Supply and Distribution). The seized cylinders will be confiscated and handed over to the oil companies. If convicted in court, the sentence carries a maximum sentence of imprisonment and a fine.
It is wrong to use cooking gas in hotels, vehicles and other commercial purposes. It is also wrong to transfer domestic cooking gas to a commercial cylinder. People should report such complaints to the Supply Office.
