1,251 new Covid-19 cases in Kerala on Friday; 1,061 through contact
Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala confirmed 1,251 cases of Covid-19 on Friday, said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan while briefing media after Covid-19 evaluation meeting here. Among the new cases 1,061 were through contact and infection source of 73 was unknown.
77 patients had returned from abroad while 94 had returned from other states.
18 health workers were also confirmed of Covid-19 on Friday.
Meanwhile, 814 patients recovered from the disease.
5 Covid-19 deaths were also confirmed – Malappuram Mamburam native Imbichikoyya Haji (68), Kannur Kootali native Sajith, Thiruvananthapuram Uchakkada native Gopakumaran (60), Ernakulam Elamakkara native PG Babu (60) and Alappuzha Poochakkal native Sudheer (63).
The number of positive Covid-19 cases in 5 districts were above 100. Thiruvananthapuram – 289, Kasaragod – 168, Kozhikode – 149, Malappuram – 142 and Palakkad – 123.
The highest number of recoveries were also reported in Thiruvananthapuram, 150.
In the past 24 hours, 27,608 samples were tested, CM said.
