1.23 lakh students got admission in schools without stating caste or religion
Thiruvananthapuram: There is a steep rise in the number of students who seek admission in schools without stating their caste or religion. Presently, more than 1 lakh students, who had not filled up the columns to state their caste and religion, are studying in classes upto 10th standard. Minister of education C. Raveendranath informed the same in the assembly while responding to a question.
The minister informed the assembly that 1,23,630 students are studying in classes from 1st to 10th, who got admission without marking their caste and religion. There are 278 such students in Plus One and 239 students in Plus Two.
The minister disclosed the statistics of the students of 9,209 government and aided schools in the state. However, he has not revealed more details including which district have most number of such students and the like.
