'Police, prosecution at fault' Oommen Chandy demands CBI probe in Walayar rape case
Thiruvananthapuram: Congress leader Oommen Chandy expressed shock over the acquittal of the accused in Walayar rape case. Serious lapses occurred from part of police and prosecution. For the culprits to be punished, a CBI probe is highly required, he wrote on Facebook.
The former chief minister also alleged “it is clear that not the victims but the accused obtained the aid of government systems.”
From the action of appointing the advocate who appeared for the accused as the chairman of Child Wefare Committee and from the statement of the victims’ mother that the members of CPM had taken the accused from the police station, it is clear that they were benefitted from government systems, he wrote.
