“Please stay at homes,” a priest on his knees, pleads to public in Alappuzha
Cherthala: A priest was seen on his knees, pleading to the public to disperse and stay indoors in the wake of drastic Covid spread.
Father Antony Valayil of St. Sebastian's Church in Pallithode has decided to create awareness among the people as the Covid cases keeps increasing day by day.
25 people were confirmed of Covid in Pallithode here. A triple lockdown has been declared at the village which falls adjacent to Chellanam. However, people are still wandering and assembling outdoors.
Though police and health workers tried to make people stay at homes, it continues. Following this Fr. Antony decided to take up the mission. On Saturday he went to 20 spots were people were seen in large numbers and requested them in the name of god.
He had sought the permission of police and health workers prior to visiting these places with a microphone. He included many holy verses in his request.
According to reports, his mission has been successful as no large gathering were seen here on Sunday.
