Orthodox church did not ask members to support any party, says spokesperson
Konni: The Orthodox Church on Monday distanced itself from supporting any political party during the polls.
Orthodox church spokesperson Fr. Johns Abraham said that if anyone has spoken in support of any political party, it was their personal opinion. “What happened now is not the opinion of the church. The church has not called to support any political party,” he clarified to Mathrubhumi.com
“Members of the Church have realised who had troubled them in connection with the church dispute case. They will vote accordingly in the bypoll,” he said.
“The Church has not asked to vote for anyone. The Church’s stance in this regard is aired by its leaders or spokesperson. As the Church leadership has not made any such statements, the opinion of others need only be viewed as an expression of individual opinion,” Fr. Johns Abraham said.
