Journalist’s death: Sreedharan Pillai condemns police
Kozhikode: In the death of journalist KM Basheer, BJP state president PS Sreedharan Pillai criticised the police for allegedly plotting to save the accused IAS official Sriram Venkitaraman. Basheer was killed after Sriram who was allegedly drunk and driving a car knocked down him in Thiruvananthapuram on Saturday.
Addressing Mathrubhumi, the BJP leader expressed anxiety over the police’s move to save the accused.
“ It is found that people in Kerala are not bothered about the law in India. Policemen were not keen to take the injured man to the hospital at first. They tried to save the official and the woman who accompanied him,” alleged PS Sreedharan Pillai.
He also raised sharp criticism against police for delaying the blood test of Sriram.
The BJP leader noted that similar conspiracy of police was found in Nedumkandam custodial death case.
“ Nobody is safe in Kerala. We are moving towards a period of anarchy. Police delayed the blood test of Sriram to save him from being booked in drunk and driving case. Police have committed serious lapses in this case,” said the BJP president.
He also observed serious mistakes in the part of the home department and asked to rectify it soon.
