‘Don’t try to threaten us with CBI,’ Kodiyeri warns BJP
Thiruvananthapuram: CPM State Secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, on Saturday, warned the opposition parties not to threaten CPM with a Central Bureau of Investigation probe. CPM or the LDF government will not surrender before BJP, he said during a press conference.
Kodiyeri also alleged that CBI, launching a probe into the Life Mission project, was with vested interest. The move is to sabotage the state government, which we are opposing. The political objective behind BJP’s move in bringing CBI to probe certain cases is very clear, he added.
Usually for CBI to take any case, certain protocol has to be followed. It should be over the instruction from High Court or recommended by state government. This was violated in Life Mission. However, with this BJP won’t be able to destroy LDF or topple the state government, Kodiyeri stated adding public to be more vigilant towards such malicious acts.
It was Chief Minister himself who demanded central agency probe in gold smuggling case. However, what is happening now is that a smokescreen is created to draw attention from the probe, he further stated.
Kodiyeri also responded on his son Bineesh Kodiyeri being questioned by Enforcement Directorate.
I will not interfere in the probe. If guilty, should be punished. I have already clarified that I won’t interfere in the probe, he added.
