'Disha' to help students find the right path
Alappuzha: ‘Disha’, a higher studies expo, has been arranged at SDV school ground as part of the 59th State School Arts Festival. It is organized by the Career Guidance and Adolescent Counselling cell (CG & AC) under the state higher secondary department. It was started on December 6 and will be extending to December 9, till the last day of Kalolsavam.
Around 50 central universities are participating in the expo. NDA, IISER, IIM, TISS, NIFT are some of them. The expo was conducted last year also. The concerned faculties in the various universities will answer the queries of students and parents regarding new courses, choosing courses as per the student’s aptitude and anything relating to higher education.
Seminars led by popular personalities working on various fields are also organized. The seminars are conducted on Civil Service, Indian Airforce Service, Sports, Performing Arts, Journalism and various others.
The expo was first introduced in the Kalolsavam held in Thrissur last year. More than 5000 students and parents attended the expo then. On the first day itself there was a heavy rush of students. And the organizers have made it mandatory for the students to be accompanied by teachers and come as a school to see the expo, due to huge rush.
Special facilities have been arranged for differently-abled students visiting the expo. Special stalls and facilities have been setup for them. The expo is from 10 am to 6 pm.
