Thiruvananthapuram: Minister of State (MoS) for External Affairs, V Muraleedharan, on Thursday informed media in New Delhi that the government is closely working for the safe return of sailors detained by Guinea Navy. He said that the government has been communicating with authorities of both Nigeria and Guinea.

“They are safe and there is no need for concern. Both countries are following international law. The return is delayed only because of the due process of the law,” he said.

On the other hand, Vijith, Malayali Navigating Officer among the detained sailors said that they have been shifted to harbour in Luba and move is to hand over them to Nigeria. The sailors are worried whether it will invite some other troubles, he said.
