Southern Railway proposes 4 new trains in Kerala

Chennai: Southern Railway has proposed to introduce 14 new trains and extension of 12 trains for the year 2020-21. The proposal was submitted to the Indian Railway Time Table Committee (IRTTC) meeting.

The four trains proposed in Kerala are Kochuveli – Coimbatore Antyodaya weekly express, Ernakulam – Velankanni weekly express, Rameswaram – Palakkad express and Dindigul – Palakkad express.

The trains that has sought extension are Palakkad town – Tiruchirappalli passenger to Karaikal, Bengaluru – Coimbatore Uday Express up to Palakkad, Mangaluru - Thiruvananthapuram express upto Nagercoil and Thiruvananthapuram - Nagercoil passenger upto Tirunelveli.

However, no proposal has been submitted for new trains on the most busiest routes Chennai – Mangaluru, Chennai – Thiruvananthapuram and Chennai – Ernakulam.
