Rs 50 service charge for tea on Shatabdi train: Railways says its the norm

New Delhi: We know the food price in airports are quire high. But have you heard about tea worth Rs 70 on a the Shatabdi train? The catering service of the Indian Railways on a train has charged a service tax of Rs 50 for a Rs 20 tea.

A passenger named Balgovind has shared the picture of the bill on social media. The incident happened on June 28 on the Shatabdi express from Delhi to Bhopal.

As the tweet went viral, the Railways came out with explanation. They claimed that passengers who order food from such trains without pre-booking would be charged Rs 50 for the service as per the circular released in 2018. The said circular also applies to Rajdhani trains.
