No appointments in Armed Police; SC notice to Kerala govt, PSC

The notice was sent by the Supreme Court bench led by Justice L Nageshwar Rao over a petition that appointments were not made from the 2016 rank list.

New Delhi: The Supreme Court has sent a notice to the Kerala government and Kerala PSC over a petition filed in connection with the decision to not make appointments in Kerala Armed Police (KAP) through PSC rank list. 

The notice was sent by the Supreme Court bench led by Justice L Nageshwar Rao.

The notice was sent over a petition that appointments were not made from the 2016 rank list. Kerala Administrative Tribunal had ordered to make appointments in over 280 vacancies in KAP1, KAP 5 battalions. However, the High Court had cancelled the Tribunal’s order. The rank holders in the list approached the apex court against this order.

The validity of the 2016 rank list expired in 2018. Senior advocates V Chidambaresh, PN Raveendran and advocates Roy Abraham, PS Sudheer appeared for the petitioners.
