Manimozhi Theodore to head DRDO’s robotic lab
Bengaluru: One more male bastion in the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) crumbled on Friday when Manimozhi Theodore was appointed as the Director of Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (CAIR).
Manimozhi, a Scientist G, was elevated to the top post following the premature retirement of Sanjay Burman, who was the Director earlier. DRDO says Burman, a Distinguished Scientist, took voluntary retirement.
Manimozhi has over three decades of services with DRDO and has contributed extensively in the fields of net-centric C3I systems and Quality Assurance.
She joined DRDO lab LRDE in 1984 and later moved to CAIR in 2000. A graduate in Electronics and Communication Engineering from University of Madras, Manimozhi did her post-graduation from IISc, Bangalore, in Robotics in 1991.
Interestingly, Manimozhi joins the ranks of other leading women scientists of DRDO, including Dr Tessy Thomas (Director ASL), Sashibala Singh (DG, Life Science), Manjula J (DG, Electronics) and Dr Chitra Rajagopal (DG, SAM).
