Kummanam Rajasekharan sworn in as Mizoram Governor
Aizwal: Kummanam Rajasekharan took oath as the Governor of Mizoram today at the Raj Bhavan in Aizwal, the capital of Mizoram.
Chief Justice of Guwahati High Court Ajit Singh administered the oath of office to Kummanam. After the oath-taking ceremony, Kummanam Rajkasekharan received the Guard of Honour of Police.
Kummanam Rajasekharan is the 23rd Governor of Mizoram and the second Governor from Kerala. Earlier, Vakkam Purushothaman had served as the Governor here from 2011 to 2014.
Kummanam, who was the BJP state president, is appointed as the Governor of Mizoram because the current governor Lt. General (Retd.) Nirbhay Sharma completed his tenure on May 28.
Mizoram is a crucial state for BJP which is taking efforts to get a strong root in northeast states. The appointment of Kummanam in Mizoram is viewed as a move to gain this target.
