Kerala MPs in RS move against private bill on uniform civil code


MPs Elamaram Kareem, Dr. V Sivadasan and Binoy Viswam have given notice to the Rajya Sabha Chairman Venhaiah Naidu under rule 67.

New Delhi: Ahead of Rajya Sabha MP Kirodi Lal Meena moving private member’s bill on controversial Uniform Civil Code, Left MPs from Kerala objected to the introduction of the bill in the house.

MPs Elamaram Kareem, Dr. V Sivadasan and Binoy Viswam have given notice to the Rajya Sabha Chairman Venkaiah Naidu under rule 67, reports ANI.

It was expected that the BJP MP KL Meena will introduce the bill in the house on Friday. However, the Rajya Sabha was adjourned without running the usual business.
