New Delhi: The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE)-Main to IITs began at 9 am across the country on Tuesday. The exams will be held from September 1 to 6 and the NEET exam will be held on September 13.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released a set of guidelines for students who are taking the exam. Face masks and gloves are made mandatory for students and candidates will be asked to wash their hands with soap before entering the exam centre.
The NTA has also requested candidates for a self declaration which states that candidates do not have any Covid symptoms. The admit cards for JEE and NEET were downloaded.
The apex court's August 17 order allowing the exams has become a political battle as the ministers from the six states sought postponement of the exams "in a manner that achieves the twin objectives of ensuring that the academic year of the students is not wasted and their health and safety is not compromised."
Approximately 9.53 lakh and 15.97 lakhs students have been registered for JEE (Main) and NEET (UG) 2020 respectively.
