Kozhikode : CPI general secretary D Raja has ruled out the reports of Kanhaiya Kumar, former JNU student leader and a member of the Communist Party of India joining the Indian National Congress. Terming the reports baseless and unsubstantiated D Raja told Mathrubhumi.com that Kanaiya Kumar has no such plans.
''He met me a few days back at the party headquarters in Delhi. He made it clear that there was no substance in the reports being spread in different media. I don't know the genesis of these reports. What I know is that Kanhaiya is an active member of CPI. ''
K C Venugopal , the congress general secretary in charge of the organisational affairs confirmed that Kanhaiya Kumar had indeed met Rahul Gandhi a few days ago. But he refused to disclose the details of the interaction between the two leaders. He stated that he would not speculate on the outcome of the meeting.
It was reported in a section of the media that Kanhaiya kumar and Jignesh Mewani would join Congress on September 28.
Kanhaiya , one of the most popular faces of CPI , is known for his rousing speeches. He contested unsuccessfully in the last Bihar assembly elections.
