Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department has sounded an orange alert for Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts in Kerala on Tuesday in view of the heavy rains. The orange alert indicates very heavy rainfall ranging from 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm in the next 24 hours.
As per the IMD alert, heavy rains will continue to batter the state for the next 5 days.
IMD has sounded a yellow alert for various districts from Tuesday to Saturday. All districts in the state are placed under yellow alert on Wednesday.
The Kerala Disaster Management Authority has alerted the people residing in low-lying areas, river banks and hilly areas prone to landslide and mudslide to exercise extreme caution.
