Man kills six-year-old daughter in Alappuzha, held

A man allegedly killed his 6-year-old daughter on Wednesday night in their home at Mavelikara here in Kerala, police said. The deceased has been identified as Nakshathra, daughter of Sree Mahesh (38). He also attacked his mother, Sunandha (62), who suffered injuries to her hand. The officials revealed the child's mother had died by suicide sometime back. Read more

RBI opts for pause, keeps repo rate unchanged at 6.5%

The Reserve Bank of India on Thursday opted for a pause second time in a row, maintaining the key benchmark policy rate at 6.5 per cent as inflation moderates. The RBI Governor also stated that they are not thinking of withdrawing Rs 500 notes or even re-introducing notes in the Rs 1,000 denomination, and requested the public not to speculate on this. Kannur train fire: Accused sent to 8-day police custody

Pransonjith Sikhdar, a native of West Bengal, who was arrested in connection with the train fire incident in Kannur, has been sent to police custody for eight days. As per the latest reports, Sikhdar will be taken for evidence collection soon. The test identification parade of the accused was completed on Wednesday. Read more
