COVID cases in India cross 1.51 lakh; death toll touches 4337
New Delhi: The death toll due to COVID-19 rose to 4337 in the country, while the number of cases climbed to 1,51,767, registering an increase of 170 deaths and 6387 cases within 24 hours, The Union Ministry of Health informed.
The number of active COVID-19 cases climbed to 83,004. As many as 64,425 people have recovered and one patient has migrated, it said. The total confirmed cases includes foreigners.
Currently, India is in the 10th spot in the list based on the numbers of COVID patients in the world. US, Brazil, Russia, Spain, UK, Italy, France, Germany and Turkey are ahead of India in the list.
A total of 54,758 people were confirmed with the disease and 1792 deaths were reported in Maharasthra. 17,728 people are tested positive for COVID-19 in Tamil Nadu and 127 deaths were reported. There are 14,821 positive cases in Gujarat and the death toll is 915.
