New Delhi: Three priests each from the Orthodox and Jacobite factions will take part in the meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to resolve the Malankara Orthodox Church dispute.
The PM will hear the concerns of both factions in separate discussions which are likely to be held on December 28 and 29.
The PM will meet representatives of the Orthodox faction on December 28. Yuhanon Mar Diascoros Metropolitan, Thomas Mar Athanasius Metropolitan, Yuhanon Mar Diascoros Metropolitan will attend the meeting. The PM will meet representatives of the Jacobite faction on December 29. Metropolitan trustee Joseph Mor Gregorios, Thomas Mor Themotheos Metropolitan and Kuriakose Mor Theophilos Metropolitan, government officials informed.
The Prime Minister’s office has granted over an hour for both factions to air their concerns during the meeting. It is learned that Mizoram Governor P. S. Sreedharan Pillai.
In the first phase, the PM will head the concerns of both factions. Further action will be taken after considering their recommendations to resolve the dispute. Direction to solve the dispute will be put forward considering the Supreme Court also, central government officials said.
