Centre urges Kerala to increase RT-PCR tests amid surge in Covid cases
New Delhi: In the wake of increasing Covid cases in the state, the central government has asked Kerala to increase the number of RT-PCR tests conducted. Health secretary Rajesh Bhushan said the percentage of RT PCR tests in Kerala never rose above 53.
He instructed all states to increase RT-PCR tests above 70 percent.
Pointing out the sharp increase in test positivity rate since mid-March, he repeated that there has been increase in Covid deaths in the state with an average of 13 cases on a daily basis.
