Binoy Kodiyeri will not be arrested until court decides on anticipatory bail plea
Mumbai: The Mumbai police will record the complainant’s confidential statement in connection with the rape allegation against Binoy Kodiyeri. Mumbai police also said that Binoy will not be arrested until the court decides on his anticipatory bail plea.
The police have decided to record the Bihar woman’s confidential statement owing to the contradictions in her previous statements. In the complaint sent to Binoy, the woman had stated that Binoy had married her. But in the FIR, she said Binoy raped her on promise of marriage. The confidential statement will be recorder soon and police have initiated necessary procedures.
The contradictions in the complainant’s statements was pointed out by Binoy’s advocate in his anticipatory bail plea. Pointing the contradiction, Binoy’s advocate argued that the case was fake and the rape allegation would not stand.
Mumbai police officers who had come to Kerala in search of Binoy had returned on Monday. Oshiwara police said they could not find Binoy, son of CPM Kerala state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan.
Meanwhile, Binoy’s anticipatory bail plea will be heard on Thursday. Other procedures including arrest will be carried out after the court decides on the anticipatory bail plea. Mumbai police said they would question Binoy’s advocate Sreejith if necessary.
