Bengaluru: The Karnataka government is likely to ban Popular Front and its political wing SDPI, it is reported. This is being planned in the backdrop of the riot that took place in Bengaluru.
The decision in this regard will be taken in the cabinet meeting to be held on August 20, said K S Eshwarappa, the Minister of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj of Karnataka.
Many SDPI workers were arrested in connection with the riot that took place on August 11. Following this, the government is facing pressure from many sides to ban both organisations, the minister stated.
Deputy chief minister C N Ashwath Narayan and Revenue Minister R Ashoka also had given clues regarding the ban on both organisations in connection with Bengaluru riot.
