Bengaluru: Aroor native Niyas Muhammed, who was arrested in the drug racket case, has strong links with prominent personalities in the Kannada film industry.

Niyas is a close friend of actress Sanjjanaa Galrani, whom the Central Crime Branch (CCCB) was planning to question in the case, CCB sources said. The CCB has started conducting raids at Sanjjanaa Galrani’s house.

Though the CCB tried to question Sanjjanaa Galrani earlier, it was reported that she was not in Bengaluru. On Tuesday, the officials came to know she was in Bengaluru and decided to raid her residence. The CCB is also raiding the house of Viren Khanna, the third accused in the case.

Niyas has close connections with Sanjjanaa Galrani. CCB has learned that Niyas has attended many parties and traded drugs. CCB had arrested Niyas on Monday with solid evidence. Niyas left Aroor 5 years ago and became active in modelling and fashion photography in Bengaluru.

Niyas has strong connections in Mollywood and has appeared in small roles. The officials are investigating the links between Niyas and serial actress Anikha and Ernakulam native Muhammed Anoop, who were arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). Niyas also worked in the modelling industry in Kochi.
