Twitter locking the accounts of Rahul Gandhi and 5000 other Congress handles is a serious issue, said journalist Andre Borges.
In an Instagram post, he said “this is a huge push back to the democracy” if the Government of India is involved in this.
“Twitter told Delhi HC that Rahul Gandhi’s account was suspended because he shared picture of a 9-year-old rape and murder victim while trying to shed light to the incident… But what about the other accounts? What about the account of a major political party? More importantly the chief opposition in the country,” he asked.
Twitter had temporarily locked the account of Rahul Gandhi on August 7 for sharing the photograph of the parents of a nine-year-old Dalit girl, who was allegedly raped and killed at a crematorium in southwest Delhi on August 1.
In protest to this, Congress’ official handle shared the photo. The handle @INCIndia was briefly locked on Tuesday, along with the accounts of Randeep Surjewala, Ajay Maken, Sushmita Dev and Manickam Tagore and some others.
