Thrissur: UIDAI, the governing body for Aadhaar, has recently released new guidelines for Aadhaar Seva Kendras to handle corrections and updates to Aadhaar cards. From now on, only changes to address details in the Aadhaar card can be made with the assistance of attested proofs from gazetted officers. For all other changes, the original certificates must be produced.

"A fine of Rs. 1000/- is imposed on the Registrar for uploading incorrect/wrong document or for data process errors and a fine of Rs. 10,000/- is imposed on the Registrar if an operator uploads fraudulent document during the process of Aadhaar enrolment or update," stated Vinod Jacob John, Director, UIDAI Kerala.

The registrars will have to pay fines for submitting improper documents including ‘unclear’ SSLC books and Voter Id cards.
