Young doctor takes co-passenger to hospital at night, saves life
Tirur: A young doctor from Kollam, Ayisha, became a role model after she took one of her co- passengers, who experienced fatigue during the train journey, to a hospital at midnight. The co- passenger, Reshma Anilkumar, suffered from exhaustion due to high blood sugar levels. Ayisha not only took Reshma to the hospital but sat with the nursing student till early morning. She left for work only after informing Reshma’s relatives of her condition. The incident happened in Malappuram district.
Both Ayisha and Reshma were in the ladies compartment of Maveli Express traveling to Mangalore.
Reshma Anilkumar, who is a student of nursing at Mangalore City College, experienced uneasiness and vomiting during the journey. At 3 in the morning, she called the railway security number and informed them of her condition. Ayisha who was also in the train checked her and later got down with Reshma at Tirur railway station.
They went to Tirur distict hospital in an ambulance arranged by the railway officials.
Ayisha left for work only on Monday morning. She also contacted Reshma’s relatives, who reached Tirur by Monday afternoon.
Ayisha, who is working in Mangalore Wenlock district hospital, told Mathrubhumi news that it was part of her duty to save the life of her co- passenger. She also added that the help provided by railway officials, ambulance drivers and doctors at the district hospital was pivotal in saving Reshma’s life.
