Anchal (Kollam): In a bizarre incident, a woman saved her husband from the attack of an elephant by beating the pachyderm with a stick.
Rajani, a teacher by profession, was in the kitchen when she heard the cries of her husband. She was shocked to see her husband trapped in the trunks of an elephant which was about to smash him on the ground. Her husband Suresh Babu (46) was screaming having no means to escape.
Soon, with her presence of mind she started beating the elephant with a huge stick. The elephant released Suresh and moved away. Rajani soon dragged Suresh to a safe place. In the incident, Suresh broke his right thighbone. He was later admitted to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College hospital.
The incident took place on Saturday 5 pm. After the Panayanchery temple festival, the mahout had chained the Devaswom Board owned elephant on Suresh’s property. The elephant attacked Suresh when he went near the elephant with drinking water. Unexpectedly, the animal grabbed Suresh with its trunk.
