Wheelchair-bound Vineetha and Subrahmanyan open up about their love story
Subrahmanyan said he was over the moon when he carried Vineetha to the car after their marriage. The couple tied the knot with the support of CPM local unit on Wednesday.
Vineetha, who is affected with Muscular Dystrophy, has been bound to wheelchair for the past 13 years. When Subrahmanyan proposed her for marriage, she refused by pointing out her physical condition. However, he was not ready to give up. He talked with her parents and waited till Vineetha gave consent for the marriage.
How friendship bloomed
Vineetha and Subrahmanyan got acquainted with each other through a WhatsApp group ‘Arivinte Palazhi’ in 2019. Later, he fell in love with her and proposed. Though she also had a tender affection for him, the physical limitations prevented her from expressing herself. However, Subrahmanyan waited till Vineetha asked him to talk with her parents and when he contacted them, they were happy to give consent for the marriage.
Vineetha was completely fit and nromal before she fell and broke her leg at the age of 13. This caused her to take bed rest for three months. From then on, it was very difficult for her to stand, walk or even perform even the daily chores. Later, Vineetha was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy from the Government Medical College in Kottayam and soon she had to quit schooling in 7th standard.
Earlier, Vineetha had decided not to marry at all due to her condition. But after marriage, she said that she could not believe how her life has changed now.
Palakkad Pattambi Aloor native Subrahmanyan is an employee at Shalimar quarry. The newly wedded couple are active members of CPM in their localities. The party backed them in the marriage by gifting gold to the bride and depositing an amount in her bank account.
U Prathibha MLA, Mavelikkara Block panchayat president N Indiradas, Chettikulangara panchayat president C Sudhakaran Kurup and CPM local committee secretary K Sreeprakash accompanied the bride to the wedding venue. CPM District Secretary R Nasser, AM Arif MP, MS Arunkumar MLA, A Mahendran, K Madhusoodhanan, S Sunilkumar, KK Joy and many other CPM leaders also participated in their marriage.
