Vishnu leaves the world giving new life to 6 people
Kozhikode: With a smiling face, Vishnu (21) defeated death by giving life to six people through organ donation.
Vishnu is son of Sunilkumar and Beena, a native of Valayanad. He always had a smiling face and was a hardcore footballer. However, he lost his life after he met with an accident while returning home on Sunday.
Amidst the heart wrenching days, Vishnu's parents were ready to fulfil his wish and agreed to donate his organs.
His heart was harvested in a 15-year-old girl who is under treatment at the Metromed International Cardiac Centre. His two kidneys, liver and eyes will give hopes to five other people.
One kidney will be transplanted to a patient in Kozhikode medical college. His other kidney and liver will be transplanted to patients in Aster MIMS hospital. Eyes which are kept in the eye bank in medical college will be transplanted later.
The accident that claimed the life of Vishnu occurred on Sunday. After playing football at the astro turf ground in Pantheeramkavu, he was returning home on a two wheeler. A car that came from the opposite direction hit his bike at Mathara. With a minor injury on head, Vishnu was first admitted to a private hospital and further shifted to medical college.
There, doctors declared him brain dead. Vishnu's parents decided to donate his organs. Vishnu was active in social works including blood donation.
After separating the organs by a surgery, post mortem was conducted on Thursday afternoon and the final rites followed.
Vishnu was working as a helper in his father’s grocery shop after completing plus two. His only sister Lakshmi is a 10th standard student at the Medical College campus school.
