Villages in Kasaragod await Aadiveda this year too
Kanhangad: Following the traditional customs, Aadiveda started visiting the households in Kasaragod district this year also. The ritual of Theyyam is performed in some of the villages in Kasaragod during the month of Karkidakam.
People who belong to Malaya, Koppalan and Vannan communities perform the Theyyam. The householders prepare a holy water in red and black colours and spill it as part of the ritual.
The Veda figure prepared by the Koppala community is called as Galinchan. This figure visits the houses first in the season.
The Aadiveda of Malaya community and the Vedathi of Vannan community will start visiting the residences since Karkidakam 16.
The vocal ballads about Lord Mahadeva who disguised as a hunter in order to test the power of mediation of Arjuna who sought presence of the Lord are sung during the performance of Aadiveda.
