Two navy officers take up Kashmir to Kanyakumari run for health awareness
Kochi: Ram Rathan and Sanjay Kumar are on a mission. They are running from Kanyakumari to Kashmir to create health awareness among people.
The mission titled K2K Run 2021 began on January 12, the National Youth Day and will end on March 8, International Women’s Day covering 91 cities and over 1000 villages.
Rathan and Kumar are officers in the Indian Navy and members of Souls of Cochin chapter Panampilly Nagar Runners.
“We decided to take up the run in the wake of Covid pandemic. Nowadays other lifestyle diseases, mental health issues and disabilities are on the increase. Our aim is to create awareness on the importance of health all over India,” they said.
They have decided to cover 80 km every day. The duo will run from 3 am to 10 am covering 50 km and then from 5 pm to 8 pm covering 25-30 km.
A 3-member team including a physiotherapist will accompany them. Also, an NGO ‘Together We Can’ has extended support to the team.
