TVM native wins Rs 80 lakh jackpot in Karunya lottery draw
Thiruvananthapuram: Vizhinjam native Sirajudeen has become a millionaire after winning the first prize worth Rs 80 lakh in the Karunya lottery draw. He got the good news of winning the prize on Saturday seconds before throwing away the ticket thinking that he was unlucky.
Sirajudeen has been taking lottery tickets for more than 20 years. It is for the first time, he is winning first prize.
“I had won a maximum of Rs 5000 for some tickets. When the results of the Karunya lottery ticket was announced, I checked the number of winning lotteries. After confirming that I didn’t win prizes up to Rs 5,000, I was about to crush and throw the ticket. But I got the good news from the lottery seller,” said Sirajudden.
He is employed at a hotel in Balaramapuram here.
Sirajudden and his wife are staying at their relative’s house. He wants to purchase land and a house with the prize money.
