Timely intervention of Keralite RPF officer saves man’s life
Coimbatore: The timely intervention of a Keralite railway police officer saved the life of a man, who fell while trying to enter a moving train here on Saturday.
The incident took place at Coimbatore Junction Railway station around 8.20 am.
A man tried to board the Palakkad-Thiruchirappalli passenger (Train no: 56712) after the train started moving from platform number three. However, the man lost his footing and nearly fell out of the train. The man tried to hang on for dear life.
On seeing this, P. V. Jayan, who was on duty on the platform at that time moved parallel to the train and pushed the man back into the compartment. Mathrubhumi.com has acquired the CCTV visuals of the incident.
Later, P. V. Jayan was honoured by station director P. Sathish Shravan who handed over the Southern Railway’s appreciation letter and a reward to the RPF officer.
A native of Marathakkara near Ollur in Thrissur, Jayan joined the Railway Protection Force (RPF) 21 years ago. He was posted in Coimbatore two years ago.
