Thrissur realises why the 'beloved teacher' Bhagavan is revered by students
Thriprayar: Favourite teacher Govind Bhagavan of Tamil Nadu, who grabbed national attention with the students of his school stalling his transfer, came to Edamuttom Srinarayana hall to empower students. Bhagavan is an English teacher at Veligaram Govt. High School, Tiruvallur.
On his farewell day, the students of his school couldn’t take in the fact that their favourite and only English teacher was getting transferred as the number of students had decreased. Bhagavan became a national sensation when his students prevented him from going by hugging and crying out of love for their beloved teacher. Parents also stood with the children.
The reason why this teacher is so beloved became clear after a two-hour long meeting in the hall.
Students should consider teachers and school as their friends. In return, teachers also should have the same outlook towards students. Teachers should become guru, not only for their curriculum subjects but also for other matters in life. Education is not school-centric but must be grasped from other environments they are involved in, said Bhagavan.
"Parents in the school consider me as their elder son. This makes me more responsible in school. Breaching the four walls of classrooms, outdoor classes on the school ground makes them more interesting. There, they share their dreams. In my life, my teachers had a considerable role in moulding me," said Bhagavan.
Before winding up the event, students and parents were seen rushing to speak to him and take a selfie. Bhagavan stepped down from the dais and responded to the questions of students, along with District Panchayat Member Shobha Subin.
