This Kerala jail sells kids’ clothes
Kakkanad: The Kakkanad women’s jail has started the initiative to make kids’ apparel and sell them.
The inmates of the women’s jail, who are trained in stitching and fashion designing, are behind this venture. They are also gearing up to make clothes for grownups very soon.
The jail has been installed with sewing machines and other equipments.
The initiative will be inaugurated by jail department chief Rishiraj Singh on Monday.
Apart from clothe making, beekeeping, Milma counter, Aloe Vera cultivation, stationery shop near jail entrance and inserting fish farming will be started here.
All the projects would be helmed by the inmates. 30 boxes are placed with the help of Horticorp at the jail for beekeeping. In Milma counters, ice-creams will be sold at first and milk products will follow.
With fish farming the authorities are trying to grow fishes for the consumption of the inmates.
