Thenhipalam: Oscar club at Kakkathadam remains as a strong support for the public here. At present, the 400 members in the club are engaged in a noble mission.They have been supplying drinking water for free to the public. Oscar club has been continuing this service since 6 years.
They start the drinking water supply from 7 in the morning and conclude at 10 in the night. For the supply, they collect water from the well of Abu Haji, a native of Kakkathadam. Apart from this, the club has constructed their own well to carry out the service.
Villages which are facing water scarcity during summer are benefited with this service. Neerolpalam, Devathiyal, Ambalappadi and Melangadi are the villages where Oscar Club has been supplying water. They used to serve 14,000 litre water to houses every day. Oscar Club is ready to supply water to more places on the request of the people.
PT Noufal, K Bichan, Oscar Babu, Shareef, AK Ameer and VP Mujeeb are leading the water supply mission under Oscar Club.
Apart from drinking water supply, the club is active in social service and other charity activities. Fund raised through football tournaments and donations from NRIs is the major income of the club.
With the new academic year, we plans to distribute school kit to children, said Oscar club secretary KK Hameed and president PT Rafeeq.
While assessing 25 years long service, Oscar Club is a role model for the youth as well as the society.
